Who the F*ck is Barretta?
Featuring an exclusive interview + in-depth look into the viral artist who created "douji feva"
Barretta’s hit song Douji Feva has racked up an impressive 3.8 million plays on Spotify since release as of November 27, 2023. It’s currently viral on Tik Tok amassing a total of 59.4k videos published to date featuring the popular sound.
However, don’t get it twisted and start thinking he’s a one-hit wonder. Baretta has been steadily building his presence and overall sound, thanks in part to his relentless output of quality music and ingenious self-promotion, coupled with the unpredictable nature of going viral on the internet via Tik Tok’s algorithm.
We honestly think the best examples of Barretta’s depth & quality as an artist can be found within the lesser-known parts of his discography.
His abrasive lyricism & delivery truly cut through on beautifully selected beats - almost like his voice is a chainsaw slicing through the most scrumptious bacon, egg, and cheese from your local bodega down the street. But it all really just f*cking works, which is evident on tracks like ‘moment’.
His cadence and flow match his carefully selected beats which contain hard kicks and high BPMs to really give that feeling of fusion between hip-hop & dance music that Jersey hip-hop is typically known for. Yet, an interesting thing to note is that Barretta has somehow managed to infuse Jersey drill and underground music together. It’s evident his sound is still evolving and as an artist he doesn’t box himself into one distinct style as his flow & delivery come across as familiar yet distinct in most tracks he’s put out so far.
